There are not too many trade associations can talk about being around for 40 years. This is truly a milestone and we plan on celebrating this event in a big way!

The Annual Spring Legislative Conference will be held at the California Auto Museum, 2200 Front Street in Sacramento on Friday, March 16, 2012 through Saturday, March 17, 2012. The 40th Anniversary Celebration and Car Show will also be at the Museum on Sunday, March 18, 2012. The Conference will feature speakers from the collector vehicle hobby as well speakers from California Regulatory Agencies on Friday, with the Keynote Speaker and business meeting on Saturday. On Sunday we plan to “Put The Pedal To The Metal” with the 40th Anniversary Celebration.

I know the subject of Ethanol in fuel has been beaten to death. We all know by the now the devastating effect it has, especially on antique cars let alone classic cars.

I think all the car clubs in Bakersfield need to get together and choose a local gas station somewhere in Bakersfield to lobby/strike a deal with for having a single pump at their station which is ethanol free. Ethanol free gas is still widely refined and produced, even locally. It’s sold mainly in the marine sector only still thanks to CA.

If we need to get local or state representatives involved, then so be it. We must, and we must being now before the production of all ethanol free gasoline ceases. There are still 4 gas stations in CA which sell ethanol free fuel but the nearest to us is in Ridgecrest!

Would you please be sure this is brought up at the next meeting? We need to get everyone behind this! If there is interest, I would be more than happy to participate and speak to all of the clubs on the subject myself.

I own a 1956 Corvette and am a member of SACC and NCRS. I’ve done allot of speaking at local club meetings for the past year on the negative effects of ethanol on our antique and classic cars.

After reading that article, you have inspired me to take things to the next level. In the city where I live we have the Bakersfield CA Club Council (BCCC) which is made up of the heads of all the local car clubs. Racing and hot rodding is a huge way of life here, you may have heard of the famous Famoso Raceway.

I’m going to be speaking directly to the entire car club council at their next meeting. My goal is to get all auto enthusiasts behind me in choosing a single local gas station to begins talks with for getting an ethanol free pump. Bakersfield is also huge for the nation’s oil production and has several refineries. There is still plenty of ethanol free gasoline produced here in CA however it goes mainly for marine use.

I’m also considering creating a .org web site in an effort to get every car club and gear head in CA involved in the cause to get more wide spread ethanol free pumps around the state of CA for all of use to use. The car hobby is HUGE in CA to say the least and I know we can do this and actually make a difference at the state level of higher if we all join together. I’m also going to approach the Association of California Car Clubs to get their full backing on this task.

The reason for my email to you, I know you are very busy running a business, but I am hoping you can share any and all info, pictures, PowerPoints, etc. you have on the negative effects of ethanol. I would of course give all credit for the information to you. I know adding the information you have collected to my presentations will be impossible to ignore! We need to make as much of this information known and in the public domain as possible!
